Wonderful Amenities

We have all the amenities that a child needs for growth; from play items, books, paint, good compound for outdoor games and much more.

Conducive Environment

The center’s environment is conducive for children learning and is built with the latest touch of a child center for our children’s peace and enjoyment.

Sense of belonging

All our children belong to the larger family. We appreciate all our kids and incorporate them in all that we do hence breaking the gap between the center and home.

Some of Activities for Children

Shape Hunt

Circles, triangles and squares are all around us in everyday objects. We take our children around the compound to find the shapes hidden all around us. Armed with paper and pencil, the little ones draw their answers and join the class in a discussion on the observations of classmates.

Alphabets

This fun activity for children helps reinforce letter sounds and improve letter recognition skills. We help our children whose alphabetic knowledge is not well developed when they start school with our carefully organized instruction that help them identify, name, write, read and understand letters.

Pair Hunt

How good are our children at identifying object pairs? ‘Pair Hunt’ is an entertaining experience of identifying and searching for object pairs. This exercises the child’s language and critical thinking skills, and comes with the added motivation of a hidden ‘treasure’ waiting to be found.

Count and Match

This experience is a great way to test the child’s number recognition and understanding and counting skills. We ensure our children can match the numbers on the left with the correct number of dots on the right and also help them practice counting by doing it repeatedly so they can master the skill.

Westhill’s Foreword

The early years of children are when they develop and learn much faster than at any other age and because of this we believe our program must always be of the highest quality. Our center’s philosophy is a center for children development and growth.

We aim to provide an enriching and supportive environment which challenges, encourages and stimulates each child’s imagination, interests and awareness of themselves and others within our multicultural community. Our programs are play-based and creative-focused where the children’s interests and suggestions are taken into account when planning activities. The children are of utmost importance as they play and work to achieve their individual potential. Our program nurtures the children’s social, emotional, physical and intellectual skills, allowing them to become independent and a co-operative member of a group by:

  • Guiding them to explore, discover, create and experiment
  • Encouraging involvement with activities and interactions with others
  • Building confidence and self-worth
  • Promoting language development
  • Teaching an acceptance and respect for others and improving concentration by developing a sense of excitement in learning
We offer 6 months to 6 years children care and education programs. Our stimulating curriculum is constantly evolving and is delivered in accordance with the Kenyan early years learning system. Activities vary each session and evolve from children’s and community interests.

In each session, children are always offered opportunities to:

  • participate in  art and craft
  • enjoy free play
  • take part in group literacy experiences
  • participate in group meetings
  • be involved in movement and music
  • enjoy active physical play
  • spend time in solitary play
  • develop group and individual imaginative play ideas

Living and Learning in Nature

At Westhill, we recognize the importance of children exploring, engaging with and experiencing natural environments.  Our program will encourage your child to play and learn in the outdoors and foster an appreciation of the environment.

  • Children will play with materials they find outdoors
  • Children will develop play with materials they find outdoors
  • Children will learn outside in the center compound natural environment

The programs aim to provide a platform for healthy living and the grounding for creative, independent and resilient children.

At Westhill Kids Center,  we embrace the fact that early childhood is a time of Belonging, Being and Becoming.

Belonging is the basis for living a fulfilling life. Children feel they belong because of the relationships they have with their family, community, culture and place.

Being is about living here and now. Childhood is a special time in life and children need time to just ‘be’ time to play, try new things and have fun.

Becoming is about the learning and development that young children experience. Children start to form their sense of identity from an early age, which shapes the type of adult they will become.

To grow, develop and learn children need to experience play based learning that is engaging and builds success for life. Play is a means for exploring, creating, discovering, imagining and communicating as they begin to understand the world and community they are a part of.
